Struggling with plantar fasciitis pain in Calgary?

Did you know that plantar fasciitis is to blame for around 1 in 10 instances of foot pain?

It's a really big problem and traditional treatments can take months or even years before sufferers can stand and walk without pain.

Some people spend a fortune on injections, custom orthotics and laser treatment only to find nothing seems to make a difference.

I'm Dennis from KneadRelief, and I want to let you know that you don't have to put up with plantar pain for months or even years.

Plantar Fasciitis: Your Path to Relief in Calgary

Plantar fasciitis often begins subtly - a slight discomfort in the heel, a sense of tightness after rest.

For many, however, it evolves into more than a minor nuisance. It becomes a persistent pain, impacting each step and shadowing every movement. The sharp, strong pain so dreaded by sufferers is caused by damage to the long band of tissue in the sole of the foot that joins the heel to the toes, which is called the plantar fascia.

Sometimes known as "plantars" or even "policeman's foot", it can become a daily hurdle, causing pain from the moment of getting up in the morning to going to bed at night. The pain of plantar fasciitis can stop sufferers  from engaging in their favourite sports or activities and even stop them wearing their favourite shoes. It's no way to live - but there are remedies.

What to do if you're struggling with plantar fasciitis foot pain?

In my journey from an IT specialist to a dedicated healer, I've learned the value of starting with simple remedies. While not definitive solutions, these practices can offer initial relief.

Simple Home Remedies: A First Step, But Not Always A Cure-All

Proper footwear can help offer support and help reduce the strain on the already damaged fascia.

Although damage to the plantar fascia is behind the pain, our bodies are all interconnected systems, and gentle stretches to the foot and calf can help reduce the tension in the lower leg, and in doing so, help reduce the pain. Popular stretches for the foot including rolling a tennis ball or golf ball under the foot, but it's important to start slowly and work up; if you're unsure of what exercises to do, speak to a specialist.

Icing the foot is a very popular home remedy. A simple way to do this is to fill a plastic bottle with water which is then put into the freezer. When the water is frozen, the bottle can then be put onto its side and rolled backwards and forwards under the sole of the foot. While this can help reduce pain and swelling, it won't speed up any healing to the damage of the fascia.

Many people will opt to rest their feet and elevate their legs to help reduce any swelling in the feet. Rest and elevation can certainly reduce the pain in the moment but with so many of us needing to work and wanting to live our lives, it can be an impractical solution.

Some specialists will suggest custom orthotics to help both relieve and prevent plantar fasciitis. The idea behind orthotics is that they provide support to the arch of the foot. Custom orthotics can be very expensive, but there is very little evidence to show that they provide any better results than standard orthotics (which are often much cheaper!).

Although exercising may not seem like a very appealing idea, like many injuries, plantar fasciitis can often be helped by gentle exercises to help strengthen the foot and ankle. As with stretching the foot, it's important not to push past your pain tolerance limits and listen to your body.

Simple Home Strategies and the Need for Professional Intervention

It's always worth trying home remedies, but they often just offer temporary relief. And it's important to be aware that despite people's best efforts to heal themselves, plantar fasciitis can be a long term condition unless professional expertise is sought out

That's where my expertise in RAPID NeuroFascial Reset in Calgary comes into play.
